What do we offer

We currenty offer two type of services, UUCP and forwarding. You probably don't need explaination about forwarding, though we'll explain why we like UUCP.

UUCP: Advantages and explaination of the system

You have multiple advantages to have a UUCP/SSH hosting system. First of all it's a very effective way to fetch your mail if you use a low bandwith connection, but it's also very robust and offer you to have your own domain wherever you live, behind any Internet connection (ADSL, Cable, wifi, modem, road warrior laptop, etc). Also you will fetch and send your mail over a secured crypted tunnel, compressed, and with a RSA authentification. Yes, you can use this service from any unsecured network.

UUCP doesn't understand IP, it works from server to server over any connection, in this case SSH is used to established the connection. So when you send a message, mail headers won't contain the IP you send them from, it will just contain the name of your workstation, that's all. It will be impossible for your correspondant to know your geographical position, or where your network is. This is very secure for you.

You do handle your mail addresses, we do only relay the mails for your domain. The domain still belongs to you, and you create new addresses on your workstation. This way you can create/handle as many account as you want, without any help from us. When a message arrive on our server for your domain, it is put on a side, waiting for your workstation to connect so it's sent to you. By default the timeout is very high (few weeks), you can safely leave for a long time vacation, and even you have ADSL troubles, you won't have to quickly come back so mails don't get bounced to the people who sent them. This would not be the case if you do put your mail server directly behind your ADSL without using us.

You are the one who initiate the connection to fetch or send your mails. You don't need to open any port on your firewall as input. It's safer for your network. This way your mail are working even your main internet connection is down, you just need a backup line to fetch your mail through.

• You don't need to have a permanent Internet connection. For example this is the best system for traveling people who have a laptop.
